ExtremeSwitching, Summit, and E4G Components: ExtremeXOS and Switch Engine Software Support

The following tables provide information about the minimum version of ExtremeXOS (EXOS) and Switch Engine software required to support Extreme Networks switches and routers. Each hardware platform is supported for all software versions from the minimum version listed through the last supported version. When EXOS 16.x (or 22.x) is listed as the last supported version, the hardware platform is supported in all 16.x (or 22.x) versions, including the latest patch versions.

Exception: Hardware platforms that have reached End of Version Maintenance (EoVM) are not supported in patches released after their EoVM dates. A platform reaches EoVM 36 months after its End of Sale (EoS) date.

General Notes

The switch's BootROM is not automatically upgraded when software is upgraded. Make sure you are running the minimum required BootROM version. Use the download bootrom command to download a BootROM image.

Notes for 5420

If your 5420F-48P-4XE or 5420M-48W-4YE switch’s manufacturing revision code is AC, you must install ExtremeXOS version 31.3.1.3-patch1-10 (or later). This limitation does not apply to other models of the 5420, and it does not apply to any manufacturing revision codes other than AC.

To find out if your 5420 switch is affected, issue the command show version. The two-digit manufacturing revision code appears in the first line of output (underlined in the following example):

The 5420 switch is also supported on VOSS versions 8.4 and 8.5, and on Fabric Engine 8.6 and later.

Notes for X440-G2

If your X440-G2 switch’s manufacturing revision code is 10 or greater (for 48-port 10GE4 models) or 08 or greater (for all other models), you must install ExtremeXOS version 21.1.1.4-patch1-5 (or later). This software version includes a flash storage driver that is compatible with the hardware revision.

To find out if your X440-G2 switch is affected, issue the command show version. The two-digit manufacturing revision code appears in the first line of output (underlined in the following example):

All EXOS 16.2 images and all EXOS 22.x (or later) images already have the necessary driver support.

Notes for X450-G2

Newer X450-G2 models have an updated PoE controller that requires EXOS version 30.4.1 (or later). This applies to the following models:

• X450-G2-24p-GE4-Base, X450-G2-24p-10GE4-Base, X450-G2-48p-GE4-Base, and X450-G2-48p-10GE4-Base with manufacturing revision code of 23 or greater
• X450-G2-48p-10GE4-FB-1100-TAA, X450-G2-24p-GE4-FB-715-TAA, and X450-G2-24p-10GE4-FB-715-TAA with manufacturing revision code of 20 or greater

Note: Many X450-G2 models have an updated flash storage driver that requires either EXOS version 16.1.3.6-patch1-8 (or later) or version 21.1.1.4-patch1-5 (or later). This applies to all X450-G2 models with manufacturing revision code of 15 or greater.

To find out if your X450-G2 switch is affected, issue the command show version. The two-digit manufacturing revision code appears in the first line of output (underlined in the following example):

Notes for X460-G2

Newer X460-G2 models have an updated PoE controller that requires EXOS version 30.4.1 (or later). This applies to the following models:

• X460-G2-16mp-32p-10GE4-FB-TAA and X460-G2-16mp-32p-10GE4 with manufacturing revision code of 14 or greater
• X460-G2-24p-24hp-10GE4-FB-TAA and X460-G2-24p-24hp-10GE4-Base with manufacturing revision code of 17 or greater
• X460-G2-48p-GE4-FB-1100-TAA, X460-G2-48p-10GE4-FB-1100-TAA, X460-G2-24p-GE4-FB-715-TAA, and X460-G2-24p-10GE4-FB-715-TAA with manufacturing revision code of 22 or greater
• X460-G2-48p-GE4-Base, X460-G2-48p-10GE4-Base, X460-G2-24p-GE4-Base, and X460-G2-24p-10GE4-Base with manufacturing revision code of 26 or greater

Note: Many X460-G2 models have an updated flash storage driver that requires either EXOS version 16.1.3.6-patch1-8 (or later) or version 21.1.1.4-patch1-5 (or later). This applies to the following models:

• X460-G2-48x-10GE4 with manufacturing revision code of 12 or greater
• X460-G2-24t-GE4, X460-G2-24t-10GE4, X460-G2-48t-GE4, X460-G2-48t-10GE4, and X460-G2-24x-10GE4 with manufacturing revision code of 14 or greater
• X460-G2-24p-GE4, X460-G2-24p-10GE4, X460-G2-48p-GE4, and X460-G2-48p-10GE4 with manufacturing revision code of 15 or greater

Notes for X620

Some X620 switches require ExtremeXOS version 21.1.1.4-patch1-5 (or later), which includes a flash storage driver that is compatible with the hardware revision.

To find out if your X620 switch is affected, check its two-digit manufacturing revision code and compare it with the following codes: 09 or greater for X620-10x and X620-16x, 10 or greater for X620-8t-2x, 11 or greater for X620-16t, not applicable for X620-16p

To find the code for your switch, issue the command show version. The code appears in the first line of output (underlined in the following example):

Notes for X670-G2

In addition to the minimum EXOS versions listed, this switch model is also supported on EXOS version 21.1.1 and later.

If your X670-G2 switch’s manufacturing revision code is 14 or greater, you must install either ExtremeXOS version 16.1.3.6-patch1-8 (or later) or version 21.1.1.4-patch1-5 (or later). These software versions include a flash storage driver that is compatible with the hardware revision.

To find out if your X670-G2 switch is affected, check its two-digit manufacturing revision code. To find the code, issue the command show version. The code appears in the first line of output (underlined in the following example):
